It’s the classic “honk your horn three times” legend. Who doesn’t love these?! They exist all over the United States and if you drive your car onto a bridge that’s on Belle Isle, turn your engine off and honk your car horn three times, a spirit will appear from the woods, motioning for you to follow her. Belle Isle has a lot of Native American legends associated with it, so it’s no surprise that this chunk of land in the Detroit River has a ghost or two to go along with it as well. According to the National Parks Services webpage:

Belle Isle is located in the middle of the Detroit River, and is accessed from the MacArthur Bridge which connects Belle Isle to East Grand Boulevard. Belle Isle is a Detroit city park and open to the public. Friends of Belle Isle has been formed to promote the preservation and the adaptive use of existing structures on the island for the enjoyment and use by all people.
